Sponsor A Child : Youth For Seva

What did you want to become when you were a small kid ? A pilot.. A police .. A doctor.. A teacher.. A truck driver .. An engineer ?? .. A Sachin Tendulkar !? I for one wanted to be an astronaut and roam around the planets of our solar system. When you were a child, you did not know the ground realities. You did not know that, money went into shaping you to a doctor or an engineer. You did not care how much your dad or mom made every month. All you cared about was to be like those cool guys who fly planes, or beat up bad guys, or drive around all day, or play cricket for living.

All the kids on the planet have the same dreams.

As we grew older, we saw what our parents did, what our uncles and aunts did. How much money they made, and how successful and happy they were. We liked their lives, and tried to emulate them. We were inspired by them and wanted to take up their professions, so that our lives would be as successful and happy as theirs was.

Unfortunately, not all the children have the same opportunities.

There are a class of children, who can not draw any inspiration from their families. Children see their drunk fathers beat up their mothers every night only to see their moms get up the next morning before everybody else and work hard to provide a better livelihood to her children. There are other set of children who see both their parents toil away under the hot sun entire day long, and sleep empty stomach at night, so that their children are fed properly and have proper education with whatever little money they make…We are fortunate to have parents who are our darlings and brought us to where we are now. But not every child seems to be lucky enough.

How much do we spend on Shopping ?? A leather jacket, a pair of Hex ride shoes, 3-4 pairs of jeans?? How much do we spend on our travel every year ? How much on parties? We puff away like what 200 packs an year..300 ?? What does a trip to beauty parlor cost us? How much do we spend on movies ? What is our weekend dinner bill ? What about Petrol charges ? An IPL Ticket ??

The needy child, cannot even imagine getting an IPL ticket. All he can think of is a need to be educated. All he needs isĀ 500 Rs. per month for twelve months…to grow. ThisĀ 6000 Rs. will potentially change his life and his perspective towards the society. He gets the financial support he would never have thought of, and he gets a mentor who becomes his role model and whom he can look upto… Forever. Its not just about the money. Its about the bond you create with the child. Its about an opportunity to serve your society.

These children need the same support we got from our parents, they need the same guidance we got from our teachers, they have the same aspirations we did, they dream the same dreams we do, they want to live the same life we are living. Support them, Mentor them, Sponsor them.

“Sponsor A Child” today and Experience the joy of giving.

AET Orphanage: Article submitted by Rohan Sripad, part time volunteer and coordinator of Koramangala zone.

Deepavali is a Sanskrit word - Deepa meaning light and Avali, meaning a row. It means a row of lights and indeed illumination forms its main attraction. It symbolises that age-old culture of India which teaches us to vanquish ignorance that subdues humanity and to drive away darkness that engulfs the light of knowledge….Read On
